Map Help

Detailed Instructions

These instructions are meant for those who wish to interact with the map by keyboard.
After you close this popup, the next tab press will take you to “keyboard shortcuts”. These keyboard shortcuts do not work, and it is recommended to simply not open them. If you do, however, you’ll have to press esc to get out. Assuming you did not click into “keyboard shortcuts”, the next tab will take you to the map. You’ll see the map outlined in blue. From here, click enter to begin interacting with the map.
Pressing tab will iterate over the available states. You can tell when a state is targeted when its outline thickens. Press enter to select your state.
After you click enter into a state, perform the same actions for the counties in the state. Press tab to iterate and enter to select.
You’ll be taken to the searchbar. You can search for a school or address in the county. If you’re looking for a school, use the up and down arrow keys to toggle between the dropdown options. As always, press enter to select.
If you searched for a school, you’ll be shown a school popup. Once you close the popup, you can begin toggling between resources and distances.
Press tab to iterate through the distance selector and the options on the sidebar. Use the arrow keys to change the distance, and enter to select options on the sidebar.
Once you are satisfied with the resources you’ve picked, press tab until you’re focused on the distance selector again. Then, press enter and you’ll be able to use tab to navigate through the resources on the map.
In the case where the resource popup extends past the boundary of the map so that you can’t read it, press the ` key (the key between esc and tab). You should zoom out enough to read the popup. Once you are done, press the button again and you’ll zoom back in.
The esc key is the equivalent of a back button: it will take you to the previous step in the map (but never back to the school popup). If you want to stop interacting with the map, press esc until your focus is set outside the map to the footer.
As long as you are interacting with the map, pressing shift will switch you to the list view.
