About

Inspired by the inter-institutional Bass Connections team from Duke University and North Carolina Central University, the project is dedicated to fostering responsible and innovative partnerships with public schools across various counties of North Carolina. Initial research identified a significant barrier to meaningful engagement: university students often lack a comprehensive understanding of city and community dynamics.

To address these challenges, the team developed a centralized web application designed to serve as an essential tool for individuals entering or residing in different school communities. This application aims to inform pre-service training for university students, support local neighborhood schools in visualizing their communities, and assist various university offices in articulating the concept of “community.” By providing an intuitive and interactive map-based platform to access community resources, the project seeks to bridge the gap between universities and public schools, promoting equitable and informed partnerships and accessibility.
